What is Star City Motor Madness?
Star City Motor Madness is a celebration of America’s passion for the automobile and the love of cruising. The event held the last Friday and Saturday in June draws from throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond. The event is a fundraiser for charity.

Where do the proceeds from the events go?  Proceeds go to The Virginia Museum of Transportation, The Commonwealth Coach & Trolley Museum and Center-in-the-Square, all of which are based in Roanoke. Additional donations are made to other organizations that vary each year. The Virginia Museum of Transportation features a diverse collection of America’s transportation history with an impressive collection of railroad "rolling stock" including the famous Norfolk and Western #611 streamlined steam locomotive. With help from Star City Motor Madness the museum has built an automotive gallery where changing automotive exhibits take place.

Will My Car Qualify for the Events?
SCMM welcomes any "classic" or "special interest" car. We define these as any car that creates a feeling of nostalgia, stimulates a memory or fulfills a fantasy. If your car fits any of the above, come join us!

Is reserved parking available for all events?
Priority reserved parking is available for Friday at Berglund Credit Line and for showing your car on Saturday at the car show. To obtain reserved parking simply join the Virginia Museum of Transportation Automobile Club (VMT Auto Club). See the registration page.

How late can I register?
You can register the morning of the car show. Registration is located at the corner of Jefferson Street and Campbell Avenue. Registration opens at 8am and closes at 12 Noon . You can pre-register on Friday night during the cruise-in. Visit our Registration Tent at Berglund Credit Line.

June 14th is the cut-off date to pre-register and receive by mail a free parking pass to Berglund Credit Line for the Friday cruise. If you register by mail or online after the 14th we will make every effort to mail a pass to you but we can only guarantee a pass to those whose registrations and payments are received by the end of day, June 14th.

Pre-registrations received after the 14th are fine, we just can’t guarantee a parking pass for the cruise.

How do I pay for my car show registration?
You may mail a registration form to us with payment by check or money order. If you register at the Friday cruise or the Saturday show we can accept cash or check. (We cannot process credit or debit cards Friday or Saturday.) You may pre-register online and pay with a credit card until end of day, June 26th.

Where can I park my trailer and tow vehicle?
We have trailer parking for those showing a car Saturday at the car show in downtown Roanoke. If you will be participating in the cruise-in Friday night you will need to park your trailer wherever your accommodations are.

Saturday the show area opens at 8am. Those with trailers may park their trailer and towing vehicle at the Virginia Museum of Transportation, which is a few blocks from the show area. The museum is at 303 Norfolk Avenue. As you face the museum on the far left is a gate that opens into the large parking/storage area of the rail-yard. Beginning at 8:30am there will be someone there to open the gate as trailers arrive. Retrieving your trailer after the show will not be a problem as the museum will be open late that night.

What happens if it rains?
Star City Motor Madness is a "rain-or-shine" event. Over 6 months of planning makes it happen. There are numerous city permits issued only for our specific event days. We have dozens of volunteers who schedule their time for the event. Participants travel to Roanoke from a 5-state area expecting the event to happen. Advertising of the event dates will have aired for nearly a month. Consequently, for this and other reasons, we cannot reschedule.

Do you need volunteers to help?
As an all-volunteer organization we need people to help with the planning, set-up, operation and take-down of all activities. Whether you’re a car enthusiast or not we welcome your help large or small. We have a really good time working together! Please call Steve Davis at (540) 776-5349.

How do I rent vendor space?
Vendor space is available Friday across from Berglund Credit Line and Saturday downtown. Spaces are 10’ x 20’. $125 donation for both days and $75 for Saturday only. We take no percentages. Contact Steve Davis by email at: emails@starcitymotormadness.com.
